Father's playgroup

This group is for fathers, grandfathers, uncles, male carers and their children between the ages of 0 and 5 years.

It's a regular Saturday morning get-together in a safe and friendly place where children can be children, dads can be dads, and everyone has a fun time. 

Children learn more through play than by any other means.

What happens

When you arrive at the playgroup you and your child can:

• ride bikes
• play in the sand pit
• climb on the climbing frames
• do some art activities

There are a range of books, games and construction activities you can share with your child depending on what you enjoy doing together.

We also have a short singing and story-telling time at the end of the playgroup.

Why playgroups are important

We provide a space where fathers and their children can interact and build positive relationships using play.

The Infants’ Home provides all play equipment and morning tea.

The group:

• Highlights the importance of fathers, particularly in a child’s early years
• Allows fathers to experiment with ways of parenting
• Encourages and offers fathers help in seeking support from other men
• Provides fathers with the opportunity to develop their parenting skills
• Builds foundations for relationships between fathers and their children

Fathers should take every opportunity they can to interact with their children.

How to get involved

The playgroup is held fortnightly between 9am and 11am at The Infants’ Home, 17 Henry Street Ashfield. Just follow the signs on the gate in Henry Street.

ALL PLAYGROUPS ARE NUT-FREE ZONES. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN NUTS.
