The Art of Literacy Exhibition

The Art of Literacy is central to the teaching and curriculum at The Infants’ Home Child & Family Services. Through this exciting and innovative concept children are learning to be critical, literate and imaginative learners and thinkers.

Literacy is far more than being able to read and write. Like art, literacy is a vehicle for conveying ideas. Meaning is conveyed through many forms including words, signs, symbols and art. The Infants’ Home staff and children have explored books, poems and rhymes, fairytales, music, recipes, multi lingual scripts and used 3D sculptures to illustrate their creative writings.

The children’s impressive works of art were showcased. Their creative works were magnificent and captivated the families and the community making the exhibition a huge success.

The Infants’ Home has always worked tirelessly to support the changing needs of our young children and continues to develop new programs to meet the needs of our community.
